The commencement of the fall quarter at Mims Studios was ceremoniously marked by the renovation and expansion of the school’s studio space in preparation for our 10th year anniversary celebration. The new additions, which increase the size of the school two-fold, provide dedicated space for the expanding curriculum, as well as additional room for the growing student body.
The school is now divided into three distinct areas, according to their function inside the curriculum. The original building will still serve as the main Cast Studio, Life Drawing Theater and Lecture Hall, with adjoining Ornamental Cast Room, Library and Anatomy Hall. Our satellite Weymouth Studio, on the grounds of the historic Boyd Estate, continues as the location for advanced students to work under north light. Mims Studio’s newly remodeled Prints & Drawings room now offers a designated space with work tables for compositional and ornamental studies. Linking the Prints & Drawings Room to our Cast Studio is a comfortable lounge where students can take a break from their projects in a relaxed coffeehouse setting.
